Sainsbury’s is proposing to close its Elstree Depot and move its operations to a new frozen food depot at Northampton.
The new site will generate around 500 jobs, and it is looking to redeploy Elstree employees ‘where possible’.
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “We have announced plans to open a new state-of-the-art frozen food depot in Northampton creating up to 500 jobs. As a result we are proposing to close our Elstree depot and move operations to the new, modern facility, subject to consultation. We appreciate this will be a difficult time for colleagues and, where possible, will look to redeploy colleagues into other areas of our business.”
